Mike Dixon

DOB: 12.11.62
Lives: Fort William, Scotland
Occupation: Army sergeant
Previous Olympics: 1984, 1988, 1992, 1994, 1998

Biathlete

Dixon, the flag-bearer at Salt Lake City, struggled in the Games, barely troubling the top 80 in the biathlon.

He is now set to retire from the Winter Olympics - although he is planning to compete in shooting in the summer Games.

An MBE, he made Olympic history at Salt Lake City by becoming the first man to compete in six Winter Games for Britain.

Dixon, an Army sergeant, had been Britain's flag-bearer twice before.

His best achievement was in 1992 when he came 12th in the 20km shot with a perfect score.
