POST-WINTER OLYMPICS VERDICT:
In years to come, Masahiko Harada will have a full set of Olympic medals to show his grandchildren.
The only problem for the amiable Japanese ski jumper is that an individual gold is not among them.
That was his target at Salt Lake, but he fell woefully short, finishing 20th in both the K90 and the K120.
A double of sorts, but not quite in the same league as Simon Ammann’s double top-step podium finishes.
Harada helped put the Japanese in provisional gold during the K120 team event, but only because he jumped early in the first round.
There were still another three rounds to go and Japan finished fifth.
