POST-WINTER OLYMPICS VERDICT:

Prince Albert of Monaco’s fifth Olympics was not exactly the way he wanted to go out.

Monaco’s participation highlights the true spirit of the Games and winning was never really on the agenda, but on this occasion the Prince left a loser.

The Monaco sled finished five places below their Hungarian counterparts in the four-man bob and as a result had to fork out on a bet - a bottle of champagne.

Having crashed twice during training runs, the Prince, nursing a hamstring injury, crashed towards the end of the third run.

But as Monaco 1 slid across the finishing line they had the opportunity to complete the competition, finishing one place ahead of the Taiwanese in last.
