US win ice hockey friendly
USA beat Russia 7-0 on Friday
The women's team dominated the match on Friday
The American female ice hockey team got a major confidence boost ahead of the Winter Olympics by crushing Russia 7-0 in a friendly match on Friday.

The 1998 gold medallists had little trouble aserting their superiority at Salt Lake City's Ice Center just hours before the official opening ceremony of the 19th Winter Games.

The Americans' devastating form proved that they will be, once again, the ones to watch in the women's ice hockey event.

Russia, who won bronze at the last Olympics in Nagano, will be hoping a reverse of fortune in their opening match of the tournament against Sweden on 11 February.

The US team begin their Olympic campaign the following day when they take on Germany.
