GB squad are confident of fine showing in Salt Lake
BBC Sport Online's Anna Thompson talks to the GB women's bobsleigh teams.

Women will compete in the bobsleigh for the first time at the Winter Olympics in February.

And Britain has a strong squad.

Two teams have qualified for Salt Lake City and they admit there will be friendly rivalry.

The GB1 team consists of Cheryl Done and Jacqui Davies and GB2 is made up of Michelle Coy and Nicola Gautier.

Three are members of the Armed Forces and are taking one-year sabbaticals from their jobs to prepare for the Winter Olympics.

The adrenalin rush is amazing from going so fast - it is such a buzz

Michelle Coy
The other, Gautier, is a student in Sheffield.

Coy, 30, is the driver in GB2 and got hooked on bobsleigh nearly a decade ago.

She told BBC Sport Online: "The RAF were inviting people to have a go and take part in fitness tests.

"I was immediately hooked with bobsleigh.

"The adrenalin rush is amazing from going so fast. It is such a buzz."

Coy has been involved in the sport seriously since 1992.

And she is delighted it has been recognised as a full Olympic event.

She said: "Originally the women's events weren't due to be given full medal status until 2006.

"But because the World Cup circuit is so strong, the International Olympic Committee, decided to include it in 2002.

"I'm coming towards the end of my bobsleigh career and was really hoping for 2002.

"So I'm really pleased and really looking foward to it."
