Anna and Alex just missed out on Team GB...

BBC Sport Online reporters Anna Thompson and Alex Gubbay are at the Games to bring you all the excitement and reaction from Salt Lake City.

They will convey first-hand what the Olympic experience is all about and give you the inside story on the ups and down of the athletes and personalities taking part.

ALEX GUBBAY

Alex joined the BBC full-time in 1999 having edited award-winning student newspaper, Leeds Student.

After a year on BBC Ceefax Sport, he moved over to Online and helped co-ordinate coverage of the Sydney Games and the Olympic votes for the 2008 host city and new president.

He is now general sports editor on BBC Sport Online and as a keen skier is hoping to pick up some much-needed tips from the experts on the slopes in Salt Lake City.

ANNA THOMPSON

Anna Thompson studied journalism at the University of Central Lancashire before becoming a news reporter at the Blackpool Gazette.

She moved into sport and became the paper's sport editor before returning to news as a news editor.

In 2000 she joined BBC News Online as a broadcast journalist and joined BBC Sport Online when it launched in April of that year.

She is now a senior broadcast journalist, and has a keen interest in skiing and winter sports.
