Breaking barriers

It was in this same year that she joined BBC Sport in London.

Aged 27, she presented Grandstand, becoming the youngest person ever to do so.

Since then she has presented Sunday Grandstand and regularly reports for Football Focus and last year she became the first woman to front the network version of Final Score.

Hazel first covered the Winter Olympics in 1994 when the Games were in Lillehammer, and then again in Nagano in 1998.

Between those Games she took over from David Vine as the regular presenter of BBC Two's Ski Sunday, a role that she still holds today.
