Rain, heavy at times will affect much of Scotland, Wales, Southwest England, Northwest England and County Fermanagh today. 15-20mm of rain will fall in a short time with up to 40 mm in places.

Further heavy rain will fall in northwest England, southwest Scotland and western parts of Northern Ireland on Sunday. A further 20-30mm will fall, with up to 50mm on high ground. It will also be very windy with gusts of up to 60mph

About the Met Office Weather Warnings
There are three types of weather warning issued from the BBC Weather Centre by the Met Office forecasting team. The initial warning of severe weather is provided through a Weather Watch, when the risk of a severe weather event occuring in the next five days is under 40%. This is followed by Early Warnings when the overall risk is above 60%. A Weather Warning is issued when severe weather is expected within the next few hours. Weather warnings will also be highlighted on TV broadcasts.

About the Environment Agency Flood Warnings
The flood warnings are issued by the Environment Agency and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency and sent to the BBC Weather Centre, we then issue a compendium of warnings based on the latest information available. When severe flood warnings are issued they will also be highlighted on TV broadcasts. Find out more about Flood Warnings.
There are a number of ways you find out whether your area is at risk from flooding. Both the Environment Agency (for England and Wales) and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency update their warnings 24 hours a day via the Floodline number.
