The heavy rain that brought devastating flooding to Cumbria and southwest Scotland finally cleared the Kent coast on Friday. The rest of the country saw showers while it remained very mild for the time of year.
Many parts of the UK experienced an 'Indian summer' during the latter part of the month. However, heavy rain over parts of Aberdeenshire caused localised flooding towards the end of October.
A round-up of the headline weather events during 2008. From snow in London in October, to 20 million gallons of flood water in an underpass in Belfast, it was a big weather year.
