How to submit your weather photo

Please submit your weather photos to us by email to weatherpics@bbc.co.uk or if you have taken a photo on a mobile phone please text it to 60011 attaching the word "weatherpics" in the subject field. Please also include your name, the date and location the photo was taken.

We are interested in photos illustrating weather events and phenomena or those of interesting weather conditions to use in our Photo Gallery and on TV. The Photo Gallery is usually updated weekly on a Monday but this may vary occasionally.

Photographs are selected by the BBC weather production team from those submitted. All photos in the photo gallery will be fully credited. Photos submitted for use on TV need to be of widescreen ratio, be a minimum size of 1050 x 576 pixels, and should contain the words 'For TV' in the subject line of the email.

We keep a record of those who have submitted images that have been shown on the photo gallery in case we get external enquiries about your images. Should this happen we will contact you and pass on the email of the person who has enquired for you to liaise with them directly as you wish.

Terms and conditions

If you submit any image, you do so in accordance with the BBC's Terms of Use.

By way of summary of the relevant terms, by submitting any photo you confirm that you are the copyright owner of the photo and/or have the right to share it with the BBC for the purposes above. We accept all submitted photographs in good faith but may contact you for administrative or verification purposes.

Please note that you will retain ownership of any photos you contribute to BBC Weather and that if your image is accepted, we will endeavour to publish your name alongside it on the BBC Weather gallery. Please note that due to operational reasons this accreditation will probably not be possible if these images are used elsewhere on the website or in other media such as on TV. In order to be able to use your photo, the BBC may need to crop or re-size your image so that it fits the format of our web gallery but will not otherwise alter it. We may also need to edit your comments on occasion.

We will endeavour to view every photograph submitted. However, this may not always be possible at busy times, as we have a very small production team so we cannot guarantee that all pictures will be used.

If you do not agree to the BBC's Terms of Use, please do not submit your weather photos to us.
