The Labour Years 3 June 2001
![]() Confused by the politicians' claims and counter-claims, do you want to know what the government actually delivered in the last four years? Panorama seeks to separate the truth from New Labour's rhetoric as it examines the record of the government's four years in office. The government came to power pledging a "radical" government that would rebuild Britain and renew faith in British politics, "tainted" by broken Tory promises.
John Ware asks to what extent the government kept faith with the British people, as he scrutinizes the fine print of what was promised and what was actually delivered. Interviewing key analysts and former government insiders, the programme assesses whether the Labour government did all that it could for public services and the economy, and whether it has been as straight as it said it would be about its achievements.
