The music, video and game retailer HMV collapsed into administration last night which means the accountants are in charge and the fate of 4,000 employees is very uncertain.

Today business presenter Simon Jack and Maureen Hinton, a retail expert from Verdict Research, provided analysis of the company's decline.

Ms Hinton explained that she thought that it was being out priced by online retailers that was mainly to blame for the company's collapse: "If we think online, we just got to Amazon".

She said that HMV "could have built up a real presence" if they had have gone online 10 years ago.
