Supporters rally for absent Chavez

It was supposed to be inauguration day in Caracas for the Venezuelan president, Hugo Chavez, on Thursday.

But Mr Chavez himself could not attend because of his cancer treatment - he is in Cuba having undergone a fourth operation.

Nonetheless, tens of thousands of his supporters turned out for a rally to swear allegiance to their absent leader.

The BBC's special correspondent, Allan Little, was there.
