It was supposed to be inauguration day in Caracas for the Venezuelan president, Hugo Chavez, on Thursday.
But Mr Chavez himself could not attend because of his cancer treatment - he is in Cuba having undergone a fourth operation.
Nonetheless, tens of thousands of his supporters turned out for a rally to swear allegiance to their absent leader.
