What makes the perfect Christmas dinner?


The British public has for many years been inundated with tips on how to raise the bar for Christmas lunch, with celebrity chefs' Christmas cooking programmes and lengthy newspaper and magazine spreads.

But has Christmas lunch improved as a result, or will the average Briton be sitting down to traditional fare of a dry turkey and over-boiled carrots and sprouts?

Rose Prince, food writer and columnist for the Daily Telegraph, and Zoe Williams, Guardian columnist, discussed what makes the perfect Christmas dinner.

"Last year I had to make a seven-bird roast... it was absolutely disgusting," Ms Williams said.

Ms Prince went on to explain that Christmas dinner "creeps up on you... you always think you'll never do what your mother did, but you do".
