Some of the UK's big supermarkets have been calling on the government to extend opening hours this Sunday.

Morrisons and Asda have written to Michael Fallon, Minister for Business, asking for an extension of trading hours on Sunday to avoid what Morrisons claim will be "chaotic scenes".

Mark Price, managing director at Waitrose, explained to Today business presenter Simon Jack: "Sunday is going to be a real challenge for our customers... last year we had 14 hours to serve our customers on that day and this year we have six."

"Relaxing the rules would be for the Sunday before Christmas would be very helpful," he added.
