Jonas Mekas told Today's reporter Mike Thomson: "I walked with my camera and only had brief moments in the day where I felt I needed to record this. I needed to find the essence."
On his latest film, he said: "I have a lot of film material, some if it I cannot incorporate. But now, decades later, it is time to do something with it otherwise it will just fade away." He added: "I am a man obsessed, possessed. When I finish my life, my work will be done."
