Two statements, two schools

Personal statements by prospective university students were introduced in the application process to give an insight into activities apart from simple exam grades.

The Sutton Trust has commissioned research from Manchester University which suggests that they have turned into something of an industry and that independent school students are given much more help in crafting them than their counterparts at state school.

Here are two examples that the researchers cite: the first from a private school student, the second from someone at a state school.
