Friday boss: Satchel tycoon Julie Deane

This week's Friday Boss is Julie Deane of The Cambridge Satchel Company.

A mother of two, Mrs Deane's daughter was being bullied at school and she could not afford the fees to move her to a private one.

She believed the only way she would be able to do so was to start a business and came up with an idea - vintage-style school satchels.

Talking to Today business presenter Justin Rowlatt, she explained how, after a slow start, the company had gone from strength to strength.

"After about a year and a half we got featured in the Guardian gift guide... this was going mad.. we had 74 orders in one day."

She explained that the turnover of her company is now "about £1.3m per month".
