'No perfect candidate' for Bank of England governor

Within a few days, the new Governor of the Bank of England will be appointed from a shortlist of five candidates.

The current Deputy Governor Paul Tucker is the favourite, but is by no means guaranteed to get the job.

The Today programme's Evan Davis has been looking into what qualities the Bank needs from a new governor and asks whether it is possible for any one candidate to satisfy all expectations.

One of the head-hunters for the role is Anthony May - partner at city recruitment consultants Hedley May.

He said: "It's a very difficult thing to do, there are no perfect candidates that fulfil all the role."
