TW3 received 'thousands of complaints'

Fifty years ago tonight That Was The Week That Was brought political satire to the masses on BBC television. And it has since been discovered by historians that the programme received many more complaints that was first believed.

"We're talking many thousands of complaints," revealed Historian Morgan Daniels, who's researching the programme's impact.

Baroness Shirley Williams enjoyed the programme from its conception: "It was a... very special programme. Nothing's ever quite matched it."
