The government has published details of its long-awaited Energy Bill, designed to keep power on and emissions down.
"The announcement on the Energy Bill today overall is disappointing because they have not set a long-term target to de-carbonise the energy sector," warned Greenpeace director John Sauven, who believes doing so would create green jobs and stabilise people's bills.
But rather than switching wholly to renewable energy sources, Energy Secretary Ed Davey believes that "having a diverse, balanced approach... is the best way to keep the lights on... and get the best prices".
