Child abuse report 'a wakeup call'

Thousands of children are abused by gangs and groups in England each year, according to a report by the Office of the Children's Commissioner.

The report said there were almost 2,500 victims in the 14 months to October last year but the true number is likely to be higher.

Sue Berelowitz, who wrote the report, said it was "a very calm, measured report" and that government and other agencies "need to take it very seriously and show some leadership"
