A rector in Huddersfield has told his congregation to "go forth and multiply" by handing out ten pound notes to churchgoers in the hope that their clever investing will reap some rewards and fix the church roof.

He handed out £450 all together.

Reverend Richard Steel, rector at Kirkheaton Church, explained to Today presenter John Humphrys: "It's part of a fund raising push… It's a little bit of fun but also to be creative and encourage people maybe who have not got a lot of money to give directly."
