Comet went into administration last week which was bad news for its 6,600 staff.

Dixons Retail, which includes Curry's and PC World, saw their shares jump by 12% on the news last week that Comet was in trouble.

Dixons are now delaying their Christmas recruitment drive so as to offer Comet employees jobs.

Sebastian James, chief executive of Dixons Retail, explained to Today business presenter Simon Jack that he "has been amazed" by how many Comet employees want to come and work for Dixons, saying that so far in excess of 500 people have shown interest.
