Actor Brian Cobby, who was the voice of the speaking clock for 22 years, has died at the age of 83.

He was the famous voice of "the time sponsored by Accurist" and died peacefully last week following a series of health problems.

Nicola Mendelsohn, president of the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising, explained how the world of voiceovers celebrate "this wonderful diversity that we have in the UK".

Peter Dickson, a voice-over artist and the voice of X Factor, told Today presenter Evan Davis how he has had to adapt in his career "you play zombies one minute... then a chairman the next."

Mr Dickson went on to give his best attempt at introducing Thought for the Day in his famous X Factor style.
