Chilly Iowa feels election heat

In the final weekend of Barack Obama and Mitt Romney's US election campaigns, the Today programme's James Naughtie visited the swing state of Iowa, which voted in the current president's favour in 2008.

"We're unlike a lot of other swing states," says Rick Green, editor of Iowa's Des Moines Register.

"We are a state of... passionate political followers who take the responsibility of choosing the next candidate - the next president - incredibly seriously."
