The directors of Bumi Plc, one of the world's largest thermal coal exporters, are holding a board meeting today as the future of the company created by British financier Nathaniel Rothschild hangs in the balance.
In Indonesia, Bumi is part of the business empire run by the Bakrie brothers, billionaires who have interests in media, telecoms, mining and politics, the eldest of whom is running for president.
Rendi Witular, managing editor of the Jakarta Post told Today programme business presenter Simon Jack that this was not the first time that the Bakri family had come under scrutiny.
"The family is plagued with transparency issues in its management", he explained.
