A survey has showed that UK manufacturing output fell in September and a trade event is taking place in London from today to showcase "The Best of Britannia".

Andy Wyer, boss of Fletcher Boats explained that he thought manufacturing had been ignored before the financial crisis, adding: "now money is tight we are looking to the home countries to see what we can produce and… I feel the horse has bolted."

Businesswoman Deborah Meaden, amember of the Dragon's Den panel, was more optimistic saying that "we need to find our niche… we haven't lost our reputation yet, but unless we start shouting about it we will."
