Fans of James Bond are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first film, Dr No.

As well as introducing Sean Connery as the super-spy, the movie was also the first to feature the distinctive theme.

The man who wrote the music, Monty Norman, told Today presenter James Naughtie that he aimed to capture the character of Ian Fleming's most famous creation: "When you see the film and the camera pans up to Sean's face and he says 'Bond, James Bond'.

"From that moment onwards Sean Connery became a star, the James Bond theme which was behind him was imprinted in people's minds and the whole James Bond franchise was up and running."
