Game consoles future is 'mobile'

A redesigned Playstation 3 goes on sale on Friday in the UK. But is it game over for the console market as it faces increasingly tougher competition from smartphones and social networking entertainment?

Chris Green, principal technology analyst at Davies Murphy Group, said that everyone is "getting a little bit bored" of the three major game consoles, Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii as they are "all now quite old".

He told the Today programme that game console manufacturers are "trying to bring mobile more in to their future plans".
