Helen Fraser, is the chief executive of the Girls' Day School Trust, a £200m organisation which helps educate and support girls in 26 indepedent schools across the UK.
Speaking to the Today programme, she said that the single sex environment is "brilliant for girls, they can choose anything... there are no off-limits."
The aim of the schools, she explains, is to produce girls who are "confident, committed, composed and courageous".
"We want to prepare our girls to claim their achievements, to be brave, to take risks," she told Simon Jack.
