The United Kingdom is getting more competitive, according to a league table compiled annually by the World Economic Forum (WEF) which looks at how productive and attractive a country is to do business.
The UK had been on the slide buts its up two places to number eight. Switzerland is at number one and the United States in seventh place.
Jennifer Blanke is WEF's lead economist and she told Today business presenter Simon Jack how the table is ranked.
