Queen advertises for new chauffeur in royal household

The Queen needs a new chauffeur with the job advertised on the Royal Family's official website.

Accommodation is part of the package for someone with "clear communication skills" and "an ability to deploy tact and diplomacy when necessary".

Cabbie Fred Housego, known for appearing on TV quiz shows including Mastermind, said he was not going to apply and it was "a bit odd the way they have advertised it".

He thought it might have gone to someone in the military or secret services and speculated about the "terrifying" insights the new driver might learn and have to keep secret.
