The United Nations has "made some progress" in Syria "but the situation is getting worse" says its humanitarian chief speaking from Damascus.

Baroness Amos explained the ongoing negotiations with the Syrian government to allow in more aid - but described how conditions had got worse since her last visit in March and "many people had lost their homes"

She told Sarah Montague the Syrian government was not preventing her work, and how humanitarian response was kept separate to political negotiations.
