Plans to reform the House of Lords are being abandoned after Conservatives "broke the coalition contract", Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg has announced.

Minister Jeremy Browne told Radio 4's Today programme the Lib Dems are not playing politics by threatening Tory plans for constituency boundary changes after Lib Dem supported plans for Lords reform were abandoned saying the two issues are "clearly linked".

Speaking to James Naughtie, the Foreign Office minister said "it is simply not true that the coalition is on its last legs."
