For people who do not think the Olympics are the best thing to happen to this country, these are difficult days. London mayor Boris Johnson has labeled such people "gloomsters" and "Olympo-sceptics". The Today programme's reporter Andrew has been talking to some of them.

"Most people think, unsurprisingly, putting ground-to-air missiles on top of housing estates is a bad idea" says one sceptical member of the public."Beach volleyball which isn't even played on a beach. You couldn't invent it. It's satire satirising satire", says another.

Chris Nineham, leader of the so-called Doom campaign, asked, "Is it right to have tickets for thousands of pounds which most local people can't afford?" He added, "There is a deep resentment here, this is a rich man's Olympics".
