The General Assembly of the United Nations is to vote on a resolution that condemns the UN Security Council for failing to do enough to stop the fighting in Syria.

Foreign Secretary William Hague told the Today programme that "diplomacy so far has failed the people of Syria".

Whilst saying he does comment on intelligence matters in detail, he explained that over the coming weeks the British government will be "helping elements of the Syrian opposition in a practical but non-lethal way".
