It is 10 years since Botox was approved for cosmetic use in the United States.
Consultant cosmetic surgeon Adrian Richards, believes there is a lot of "misconception about the sort of people who have these treatments" and it is "more widespread than we think".
He told the Today programme that it is a "very safe, effective treatment".
Author Natasha Walter believes Botox is "tied in to something that is quite negative".
"We don't see enough naturally ageing women in public life... a lot of women, when they get older, feel that ageing isn't celebrated and the best way to tackle it is to erase it," she told Sarah Montague.
