More than one million children in Britain are starving claim the charity, Netmums.
The food bank network run by the Trussell Trust reported that it fed over 128,000 people last year in the UK. Last year 4,000 families in Salisbury alone were in need of emergency food parcels.
The Today Programme's Mike Thompson visited the Salisbury food bank to speak to families about their experiences.
One of the people he spoke to described having £10 to spend on food per week and not eating for five days at a time in order to feed her children.
