Bob Diamond: Banks must be trustworthy

There have been calls for Barclays chief executive Bob Diamond to resign after the bank was fined £290m for trying to manipulate interest rates.

Mr Diamond gave the Today programme lecture in November 2011, saying that banks had to be "better citizens" and create a trustworthy culture.

"For me, the evidence of culture is how people behave when no-one is watching," he said.
