Liberia: Children having children

A greater proportion of women die as a result of pregnancy or childbirth in Liberia than in almost any other country in the world.

It is common for 12 and 13-year-olds in the country to become pregnant and, with their bodies often unready for labour, severe complications and sometimes death result.

Sarah Montague met some of the pregnant teenagers in Bong County.
