Immigration: the numbers game

Immigration is one of those things that is never far below the surface in this country. It's been well above it for the past few days. Ed Miliband put it there yesterday when he said Labour had got its immigration policy wrong when it was running the country and the government wants to set a minimum income for British citizens who want to bring a foreign spouse into this country. One of the problems with all these debates is establishing the facts... the figures.

The Today programme's Sanchia Berg examines the statistics and the director general of the Royal Commonwealth Society Dhananjayan Sriskandarajah and Conservative MP Peter Lilley debate the focus of immigration policy.
