The British filmmaker Ken Loach has won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival for his comedy The Angel's Share.

Speaking from Cannes he told the Today programme's Sarah Montague that the film is about a "handful of those young people who face a life with no real place in society".

"Underneath the humour this is a tragedy we've inflicted on a generation," he said.
