Diplomatic tensions have been rising ahead of Euro 2012 over Ukraine's treatment of former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko - who is in prison on charges of abuse of power.

Oleg Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Ukrainian minister of Foreign Affairs, told the Today programme they are ready to invite foreign doctors to give her full treatment, but they are not prepared to let her out of the country.

She is the only person in Ukraine's history to be examined by foreign doctors whilst imprisoned, Mr Voloshyn pointed out.
