Louise Mensch: Abuse 'not Twitter's fault'

Is Twitter allowing an unacceptable level of abuse to take place on the social network?

Conservative MP Louise Mensch, who has over 50,000 followers on Twitter, has flagged up the "sexual and violent" abuse that she receives on Twitter.

"It's just a matter of calling bullies out," she told the Today programme. "It's not Twitter's fault... it's the fault of the users."

Chief Constable Stuart Hyde, lead on e-crime prevention for the Association of Chief Police Officers, said that the abusive Tweets directed towards Louise Mensch are "sexist bigotry at their worst", some of which are close to breaking the law.
