One of the top judges in the family court division, Sir Paul Coleridge, is launching a campaign to promote marriage.
He told Today presenter John Humphrys that he is not on a moral crusade but that he wants to lay the facts before people in a "non-preachy" way.
The impact family breakdown is having on society has become "out of control", Sir Paul said, and he wants to "articulate and advocate the case for stable, long term marriage, as being better for the individual, better for their families, better for their children, better for society."
