The chairman of the Public Administration Select Committee (PASC), has said that a lack of a National Strategic "is an endemic problem in government".
Conservative MP Bernard Jenkin was speaking following the publication of a highly critical PASC report in which a lack of strategic thinking is blamed for the problems which have dogged the government since the Budget last month.
He told the Today programme's James Naughtie that a National Strategy should be "constantly evolving and adapting".
