The coveted Recording of the Year from BBC Music Magazine has just been won by an extraordinary musician: the Polish-Hungarian pianist Piotr Anderszewski for a disc of music by Robert Schumann which the judges said was one of the finest piano recordings of recent years.
He's a famously self-critical artist - who as a young man in the early nineties walked off the stage at the Leeds Piano Competition because he was unhappy with his performance - whose exploration of the Romantic repertoire has turned him into one of the great soloists of the moment. After receiving the award, he spoke to Today presenter James Naughtie.
