Leaving prison: 'The reality check kicks in'

In a new government approach to those leaving prison, ex-offenders will now get benefits immediately and will be put on a work programme as a way of helping to prevent re-offending.

The Today programme's Zubeida Malik spoke to 56-year-old Larry and 22-year-old Kirk about the difficulties they faced after leaving prison.

It is like being "a rabbit caught in the spotlight", former prisoner Larry told her.
