Weekend deaths 'higher in English hospitals'

New data based on a full year of patient records confirms the picture that patients have a higher chance of dying if they are admitted to a hospital at the weekend in England. Sir Bruce Keogh, the NHS's medical director in England, co-authored the report, and gives the background to the figures.
